JAKARTA. The National Police announced Wednesday it has apprehended three suspects allegedly involved in the issuance of falsified passport under the name of Sony Laksono for graft defendant Gayus Tambunan.

“We are currently questioning them,” National Police detectives chief Comr. Gen. Ito Sumardi said. All the suspects are passport middlemen, Ito said.

Ito added that detectives were currently investigating the possibility of immigration officers' involvement in the case. Police recently found that Gayus’ passport was originally intended for a 5-year-old girl named Margareta.

Gayus allegedly traveled to Macau and Kuala Lumpur in September 2010 and to Singapore in October 2010 under the name Sony Laksono. (Dina Indrasafitri/The Jakarta Post)
