In his opening remarks, Yudhoyono warmly welcomed Putin, who had just landed at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali..
“I know bapak just had a 14-hour flight from Moscow, but keep up your spirit. Hopefully, this year’s APEC can become a follow-up to the previous APEC meeting in Vladivostok [Russia],” said Yudhoyono, who was speaking in Indonesian, as quoted by Antara news agency.
The President said Indonesia and Russia’s relations had continued to develop. “And our meeting now can make our partnership become closer,” he said.
Echoing Yudhoyono, Putin said the prospects for relations between the two countries were still very open.
“There are bright prospects for partnerships in various fields, we think, including in transportation development and industry,” he said.
Several Cabinet ministers, including Coordinating Economic Minister Hatta Rajasa, Trade Minister Gita Wirjawan and Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Djoko Suyanto were present at the meeting. (The Jakarta Post)
