JAKARTA. President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo would announce his much-awaited Cabinet lineup on Sunday at around 4 p.m., said a Jokowi confidant, Andi Widjajanto, on Saturday.
Amid widespread speculation and unconfirmed minister lists, Jokowi had summoned at least 29 names believed to be among the candidates to Merdeka Palace over the last couple of days.
Andi, a former deputy of Jokowi’s transition team who is now assisting Jokowi in forming the Cabinet, said Jokowi would also invite the 34 ministers to have afternoon tea at a garden in the palace complex on Sunday, the first gathering aimed to serve as an ice-breaking event.
The 34 minister are set to be officially inaugurated on Monday.
“There will be a small briefing about Monday’s inauguration ceremony and [Jokowi will] ask the ministers to immediately be ready to work,” Andi said on Saturday at the palace compound. “The President
will hold a Cabinet meeting on Monday at noon after the inauguration ceremony.”(dic)
