DKI JAKARTA - JAKARTA. The Jakarta administration has decided to extend the odd-even traffic policy that many deemed successful for the rest of this year.
“Starting Monday until Dec. 31, we will continue to implement the policy with several changes on the affected roads and the implementation period,” acting head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency Sigit Wijatmoko said on Saturday as reported by wartakota.tribunnews.com.
The city administration has enforced the traffic policy since July, prior to the 2018 Asian Games, in a bid to ease traffic congestion for athletes, contingents and visitors, until the end of the Asian Para Games that concluded on Saturday.
Sigit said in the new extension that will run for around 10 weeks, the policy will not be enforced for 15 hours straight like during the Asian Games and Asian Para Games. The administration divides the policy in two sessions; the first session spans from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and then in the afternoon to evening from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The traffic policy will not be in place on Saturday, Sunday and national holidays in accordance with the presidential decree on traffic.
The affected roads for the odd-even traffic policy extension starting Monday include Jl. Medan Merdeka Barat, Jl. MH Thamrin, Jl. Jend. Sudirman, some parts of Jl. Jend. S. Parman, Jl. Gatot Subroto, Jl. HR Rasuna Said, Jl. Jend. MT Haryono, Jl. Jend. DI Panjaitan and Jl. Jend. Ahmad Yani.
Sigit said the policy did not apply on the nearest intersection up to the toll gates and vice versa.
